New Exhibit: The Secret Life of Things: Sixty Years of Museum Anthropology at Wayne State

Date: 10/12/2018

In celebration of the Grosscup Museum of Anthropology's 60th Anniversary, we present a new exhibit, The Secret Life of Things: Sixty Years of Museum Anthropology at Wayne State. Opening on November 8, 2018, the anniversary exhibit features 60 notable objects from the Museum's vaults that reflect the breadth and depth of this institution's global collections, local history, and associated personalities. As an assemblage, these 60 objects showcase the diversity of cultures, technologies, and histories represented in the Museum's extensive ethnographic, archaeological, and archival collections.

Since its founding in 1958 the Museum of Anthropology has hosted numerous exhibits and provided hands-on research and training opportunities for generations of students, faculty, and community members. Please join us in celebrating the longstanding contributions of the Museum to the Wayne State University and Metro Detroit communities.

The opening reception for The Secret Life of Things will be held from 4pm-7pm on Thursday November 8, 2018.

Please RSVP if you intend to join us.

Following the opening reception, the museum will be open 10am-5pm Tuesdays through Thursdays, Friday noon-8pm,  and by appointment.  To schedule group visits or contact us with questions, please e-mail us at grosscupmuseum@wayne.edu.  Admission to the exhibit is free.
