Citizen Dialogue: Gerrymandering II

Thursday, October 18, 2018, 7 - 9:30 pm

Wayne State - Macomb Education Center
16480 Hall Road
Clinton Township, MI 48038

The Center is offering a chance to hear smart people on both sides of the Michigan's Proposal 2 present what they actually think and why, both with each other and then directly with the audience.

Join us at 7pm on October 18, 2018 at Wayne State University's Macomb Education Center, where Brian Dickerson of the Detroit Free Press will moderate a dialogue. This time, because of the gerrymandering proposal (Prop 2) on the November ballot, we're revisiting Gerrymandering and Representative Government. Here is the proposal's ballot wording:

"A PROPOSED CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT TO ESTABLISH A COMMISSION OF CITIZENS WITH EXCLUSIVE AUTHORITY TO ADOPT DISTRICT BOUNDARIES FOR THE MICHIGAN SENATE, MICHIGAN HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND U.S. CONGRESS, EVERY 10 YEARS"

and here is a link to the actual wording of the proposal.

Confirmed speakers include:

After the moderated dialogue between the speakers, attendees will participate in facilitated conversation in a coffeehouse-type atmosphere.

There is no charge for this public event, and parking is free and close. Please preregister so we know how many tables to set. Here's the flyer if you'd like to help encourage others to come.

Start or join a Facebook discussion on the event. The discussion area is currently live and will stay up after the event. Questions and comments there will be passed along to the organizers.

It’ll be fun! It’ll be democracy! There will be coffee and cookies!
