Professor Emerita Wasserman's Book Included In Cornell Open

Congratulations to Professor Emerita Renata Wasserman on the inclusion of her book Exotic Nations: Literature and Cultural Identity in the United States and Brazil, 1830-1930 in the Cornell University Press’ new open-access platform, Cornell Open.  This type of publishing allows for scholarly work to be available free of cost to all readers.  First published in 1994, Exotic Nations will now be much more widely accessible.

Professor Wasserman’s work “looks at how, during the first decades following political independence, writers in the United States and Brazil assimilated and subverted European images of an ‘exotic’ New World to create new literatures that asserted cultural independence and defined national identity.”  Click here to check out the digital release of her book!
