The MPA program offers professional training to provide competencies needed for a wide variety of public service positions and to build the foundation for long-term individual development and advancement in a public administration career.
The MPA program provides training for work in: local, state, and federal agencies; private, non-profit agencies and voluntary organizations; public affairs offices in private businesses; and legislative staff positions.
The program is NASPAA accredited and the oldest in the state of Michigan. The faculty are committed to excellence in both teaching and research. Classes are held in the evening.
The Master of Public Administration degree requires that students complete 39 semester credits and, if necessary, a 3 credit internship. Coursework for the degree includes 10 core courses and 3 elective courses in a concentration. We offer concentrations in the following areas:

- Criminal Justice Policy and Management
- Economic Development Policy and Administration
- Health Services Policy and Management
- Human Resources Management
- Information Technology Management
- Nonprofit Management
- Organizational Behavior and Management
- Public Budgeting and Financial Management
- Public Policy Analysis and Program Evaluation
- Social Welfare Policy and Management
- Urban Policy and Management
- Elective Option (individually tailored)
