The Confucius Institute at Wayne State University was granted permission to extend its programming to Schoolcraft College in September 2017 and held its Grand Opening on Tuesday, October 17 on the third floor of the Jeffress Center. The opening ceremony was well attended, especially by officials from Schoolcraft College, the Livonia City Chamber of Commerce, Northville Schools and local Chinese organizations.

The Institute holds an office in 331 Jeffress and staff members will host a Confucius Cafe, featuring a presentation on China or Chinese culture along with Chinese food and tea, each Tuesday in Room 321, between noon and 1 PM. Additionally, any member of the Schoolcraft community is invited to practice Chinese at any level at our China Corner, held on Tuesdays between 2 and 3 PM in room 331. Come as a beginner or an advanced student of Tang Dynasty poetry! Discussions are undersay to provide additional programs and events related to Chinese language and culture on the Schoolcraft campus.
