HSK/YCT Tests

The HSK is an international standardized Chinese language test aimed at measuring the ability of non-native speakers to use Chinese in their daily lives as well as in academic and work settings. The HSK is comprised of six levels,  from 1 to 6.
Non-native speakers of Chinese who are under the age of 15 may take the YCT (Youth Chinese Test). The YCT consists of two independent parts: a written test and an oral test. The written test is made up of four levels, from  1 to 4. The oral test includes YCT Speaking (Basic) and YCT Speaking (Intermediate). Each test takers’ on-site performance will be recorded.
Internet-based HSK/ YCT tests are offered by the Confucius Institute at Wayne State University. Test takers use a mouse and keyboard to answer questions. The test time is automatically kept by the iBT system . For HSK/YCT Oral tests, test takers’ answers will be recorded on-site.

Test Scores
1. Score inquiry
One month after taking the test, test takers can log in to the Chinese testing service website (www.chinesetest.cn) and search for their test scores by entering their name and a  test admission ticket number. When the printed official test score reports are ready to be picked up, a staff member from the test center will send  an email.
2. Validity period of score report
The test result is available almost indefinitely, but the HSK score report used to apply to Chinese universities and colleges is only valid  two years from the test date. The YCT test score report acts as a reference for primary and secondary school staff members to evaluate their Chinese programs.
