While the WSU-CI hopes to sponsor the two summer programs detailed below, we must await news regarding the coronavirus, currently effecting Wuhan and surrounding areas of Hubei province. We will make a determination regarding these trips in late March or early April.

A. Summer Service Teaching Program (June 18-July 4, 2020)

See the real China! Teach English to Chinese high school students in Enshi, a city in northern Hubei known for its diverse, Chinese minority populations. Up to 15 volunteer teachers will enjoy free in-country expenses, including train transportation, room, and meals. WSU students may be eligible for additional financial assistance, covering costs for visa and health insurance. Teaching orientation provided. Students seeking credit are encouraged to make proposals for independent study with WSU faculty.

B. Discover HUST  Academic Seminars (July 5-18, 2020)

Spend two weeks studying Chinese language and culture at any level, while taking part in one of five academic forums conducted in English at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, one of China's premier universities. Students accepted to the program through Wayne State University will receive free tuition and living accommodations. Please budget approximately $5 per day for on-campus meals. Academic offerings include:

C. Options A and B (June 18-July 18, 2020)

Students are welcome to apply for  both the Summer Service Teaching Program and a Discover HUST academic seminar and may indicate so on their application.
