Lab News and Accomplishments

 

May 2015:  Paper by Jordan Sinclair (lab alum) and including DMK descibing fractal symmetry of annual aspen growth is accepted by the journal Symmetry-Basel.

 

April 2015:  DMK has a grant funded by the Joint Fire Sciences Program to study jack pine succession and fuels accumulation in northern Lower Michigan.

 

April 2015:  DMK is a co-author on an accepted paper to Canadian Journal of Forest Research about decomposition rates of American chestnut woody debris.

 

March 2015:  DMK serves as a panel reviewer for the Joint Fire Sciences Program in Boise, ID.

 

March 2015:  DMK and Maggie Tucker attend the Kirtland's Warbler Recovery Team Meeting in Grayling.

 

February 2015:  DMK participates in a Structured Decision Making Workshop for the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge at the National Conservation Training Center in Shepherdstown, WV.

 

January 2015:  Maggie Tucker and Ben Spei present posters on thier research at the Stewardship Network Conference in Lansing.

 

December 2014:  Bill Dodge is interviewed by WEMU about the distribution and ecology of coyotes in Washtenaw County.

 

November 2014:  DMK is a co-PI on a project newly funded by USDA-Agriculture and Food Research Initiative to study and develop a new silvicultural system for jack pine including Kirtland's warbler management.  

 

November 2014:  Maggie Tucker is awarded a scholarship from the Michigan Garden Club.

 

November 2014:  DMK presents a poster on emerald ash borer biocontrol at the Entomological Society of America Annual Meeting in Portland.

 

November 2014:  DMK attends a 3-day workshop at the University of Maine discussing potential effects of EAB on black ash.

 

November 2014:  Maggie Tucker attends training for the LANDIS-II model at the US Forest Service Northern Research Station in Rhinelander, WI.

 

October 2014:  DMK and Ben Spei present posters on green ash persistence and emerald ash borer biocontrol at the Emerlad Ash Borer Research and Development Annual Meeting in Wooster,OH.

 

September 2014: Maggie Tucker presents a poster at the Wayne State Medical School Graduate Student Symposum.

 

August 2014:  DMK presents a talk on his green ash/EAB research at the Ecological Society of America annual meeting in Sacramento, CA.

 

July 2014: Maggie Tucker and DMK attend the Kirtland's Warbler Recovery Team Meeting and associated field trip to the Duck Lake Fire in Paradise, MI.
