Dassanayake attends UM Slavic Studies Symposium

The University of Michigan’s Department of Slavic Languages and Literatures invited undergraduate students interested in pursuing graduate degrees in the field to attend a symposium from November 17th to November 19th at the Ann Arbor campus. During the symposium, we had the opportunity to learn about the Slavic studies program from the faculty. Members of the department presented elements of their research and shared insights into Slavic cultures, translation, and pedagogy. Our evenings consisted of a private screening of the Yugoslavian film, Love Affair or the Case of the Missing Switchboard, and special viewing of an adaptation of Pushkin’s Eugene Onegin. Punctuated by a never-ending flow of coffee and food, the symposium was fun, informative, and insightful. Overall, a wonderful experience!
