Proficiency Exam

A) Information:

  1. This test is used to satisfy the university language requirement by examination without academic credit.
  2. This test costs $20.
  3. The exam is administered by Dr. Laura Kline: af7585@wayne.edu

B) Instructions:

  1. Make an appointment with the examiner to take the test, and tell them your college, student ID number, and email address.
  2. Take the exam on the appointed date.
  3. Your college will be informed as to which classes you have tested out of.

 

Credit by Exam

A) Information:

  1. This test is used to satisfy a university requirement by examination for academic credit.
  2. Students cannot get credit by exam for the basic sequence courses (RUS 1010, 1020, 2010). Credit by exam can only be used to test out of higher level language courses (level 2020 and higher) at the discretion of the instructor.
  3. Regular sequence language courses are 4 credits each. It costs $10/credit to test out.
  4. Students can test out of up to 12 credits a language.
  5. The grade(s) for the exam(s) will appear on your transcript, but not be factored into your GPA.
  6. After the examiner has graded the exam and submitted the form, it takes a week or two for the results to be processed by Records.

B) Instructions:

  1. Print out a copy of the Credit By Exam form.
  2. Fill out the top of the form.
  3. Get the signature of our academic advisor Tonal Simmons (tonal.simmons@wayne.edu, 313-577-6240)
  4. Bring the form to Terrie Pickering in Mano 487 for a signature in Section 2.
  5. Take the form to University Advisors (for undergrads) or to the Dean’s Office (for graduate students) to get a stamp in Section 3.
  6. Take the form to the Cashier’s Office to pay the fee for the credits. Make sure the Cashier’s Office attaches a receipt to the Credit by Examination form.
  7. Bring the paperwork to the examiner when you take the exam.
