Japan Summer Homestay
  • Spend two weeks with host families for this Japanese language immersion program
  • Students will explore various cities in Japan and experience contemporary Japanese culture.
  • Undergraduate and graduate students who have completed JPN 1010, JPN 1020 or with instructor approval are eligible to apply

Poland: A Survey of Polish Culture
  • Spend 2 weeks in May traveling through Poland
  • Students study Polish culture as it relates to their traditional society and future
  • Open to all undergraduate and graduate students
  • Courses available:  POL 2710 (3 cr) or POL 3990 (1-3 cr)

Study Abroad in St. Petersburg, Russia
  • 4-week program in June in St. Petersburg with a weekend in Moscow
  • Offered through the School of Russian and Asian Studies (SRAS)
  • Students are placed by level in Russian language courses and receive 20 hours/week of language study. They are also taken on extensive cultural excursions in St. Petersburg and its environs, as well as on a side trip to Moscow.
  • Open to all undergraduate and graduate students, as well as to those not enrolled at Wayne State.
  • Courses offered: RUS 2710 (3 cr, FC); RUS 3990 (1-3 cr). Language credit available based on coursework in Russia. Registering for a WSU course is not required.

Study Abroad Scholarships

Students wishing to pursue Study Abroad opportunities may apply for grants to support participation in study/internship programs outside the US. Preference is given to programs sponsored by WSU, programs affiliated with WSU and those that grant academic credit. In most cases, awards range from $250 to $1500, depending on length of program and quality of application. Visit the Office of Study Abroad and Global Programs at 131 Manoogian Hall for details:
