Reinstatement Policy

Students currently excluded may appeal for reinstatement to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences (CLAS):

  • after not attending classes at Wayne State University for one calendar year
  • after meeting the conditions of one of the following reinstatement pathways
  • after completing the reinstatement application form


Reinstatement Pathway A requires that a student:

1) Choose a CLAS major

2) Have an overall GPA of 1.50 or higher

3) Have a major GPA of 1.75 or higher

OR

Reinstatement Pathway B requires that a student: 

1) Choose a CLAS major

2) Have completed 20 hours of college credit with a 2.75 GPA or higher since exclusion

Application window to apply for reinstatement:

  • Fall term: May 1 – July 1
  • Winter term: September 1 – November 1

 

After Reinstatement

Reinstated students will be provisionally readmitted to CLAS. The provisional period encompasses the first two terms after reinstatement. During this period students must:

  • Register for a maximum of (8) credits
  • Register for classes that complete a major, minor, CLAS, or general education requirement
  • Complete at least (1) major requirement, unless the student has already completed all requirements for the declared major
  • Achieve a C+ or better in each of the enrolled courses

Upon meeting these conditions, the student will be fully readmitted to CLAS. Failure to meet any of the reinstatement conditions will result in permanent exclusion.
