Marsha Richmond has a Ph.D. in the History of Science from Indiana University, with a specialization in the life sciences. Her research focuses on the rise of modern biology in the late 19th and early 20th centuries in Germany and Britain, particularly concentrating on genetics, evolution studies, and the entry of women into biology. Her scholarship, represented in publications and presentations at academic conferences, has been supported by several fellowships and grants (including two major grants from the National Science Foundation). She currently serves as a U.S. Advisor to the Correspondence of Charles Darwin Project, based in Cambridge, England, and is on the editorial boards of Isis (History of Science Society); Journal of the History of Biology; NTM: International Journal of History And Ethics of Natural Sciences, Technology and Medicine (Basel); and History and Philosophy of the Life Sciences (London). She teaches courses in the history of science, including American Medicine in the 20th Century, Darwin and His Critics, and History of Environmentalism in America.
