MI APPLE TRAIL, Farmers Market Public Art Project
In collaboration with several campus and community partners, the WSU Farmers Market is bringing you the MI Apple Trail Public Art Project. It was unveiled Wednesday, August 3, at our farmers market on Cass Ave, in front of Prentis Hall. Special thanks are due WSU's James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History, WSU Facilities Management and Planning, and the WSU School of Business Administration. The project is implemented by WSU student, Cathy Sanders who's getting her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Industrial Design, in collaboration with Woodshop Supervisor, Robert Taormina. Their proposal was the winner of an internal competition held in July among art students at Wayne State University.
The Project's sponsors are Detroit Eastern Market and the Michigan Apple Commission.

Tell us what you think of the art! In mid-September, all the Apples from participating farmers markets will be taken to and displayed at Eastern Market. On October 14, there will be an auction of the apples, with proceeds from the sale of each Apple returning to the farmers market that created it. You are invited to participate in the auctioon as SEED Wayne's guests (and we hope that your successful bid will bring our Apple home to Wayne State University, where it belongs!). Tickets for the gala event are $50; please write Kami Pothukuchi at k.pothukuchi@wayne.edu if you will represent Wayne State University at this auction!
