Internships and Work Study Programs

General internship

Are you looking for an internship in a friendly, fast-paced, and student-centered location? Would you like to provide research and writing support to students in one-on-one tutoring sessions? Are you interested in developing research, writing, and multimedia skills necessary for academic and professional growth? If so, an internship at the Wayne State Writing Center could be for you!

Interns can work 5-10 hours per week at the Writing Center. To apply, students should submit a professional resume and a one-page cover letter to the director, Amy Latawiec (amy.latawiec@wayne.edu). In the cover letter, students should explain why they are interested in the internship and what qualifications, interests, and skill sets they can bring to the work. Students of any major may apply to become an intern at the Writing Center. 

Internships are supervised by the Writing Center director. An end-of-semester internship evaluation will be completed by the intern and the director for documentation of work completed.

Service learning internship

Are you taking a service learning course that requires you to complete community service hours for successful completion of the course? Are you looking to complete your service learning hours in a friendly, fast-paced, and student-centered location? Would you like to provide research and writing support to students in one-on-one tutoring sessions? Are you interested in developing research, writing, and multimedia skills necessary for academic and professional growth? If so, an internship at the Writing Center could be for you!
